    IT IS A MOVEMENT!

    In the past few decades, in Mumbai, due to limited availability of land, an altogether new avenue of development has taken shape – a phenomenon known as redevelopment. Over the years, existing buildings in prime locations have given way to swanky high-rise structures matching the aspirations of its residents. Along with redevelopment projects have come up its unique challenges and the municipal corporation and the government have to constantly keep fine-tuning the development regulations to cater to such projects.

    The Real Estate industry has been providing a roof over people’s head since time immemorial. Homes are the safety net that every family needs. As proven in the recent COVID19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown, our homes were the only medicine to counter the disease and keep our family protected.
     
    As the saying goes, “ROTI, KAPADA AUR MAKAAN” are the three most essential necessities of life that every human strives for. Despite the fact that the Real Estate industry provides this most essential aspect of one’s life, it is sad that the Real Estate Developers have been getting step motherly treatment from the Government since many years. This attitude of the Government coupled with the recessionary market trend has resulted in the Developers running into huge losses and getting stuck with projects that have become unviable due to unreasonable premiums. 
     
    The industry has been reeling for a long time and struggling to survive. Several associations, including BDA, have appealed to the Government at various forums for reliefs / relaxations and clarifications on issues due to which thousands of projects are stuck up.
